| Hanson driver critically hurt in Whitman rollover |

![]() A Hanson teen was critically injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash near at Broad and Marble streets in Whitman Friday afternoon. All three occupants of the vehicle were ejected on impact. Eric Williams, 19, of Reed Street, Hanson, was identified by Whitman police as the driver of the Jeep involved in the crash. He was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he was listed in critical condition Friday evening. Passengers, Dylan Williams, 19, of Reed Street, Hanson — Eric Williams’ brother — and Brandon Lever, of High Street, Hanson were passengers in the vehicle, but neither reported an injury to EMS crews. Whitman Fire-Rescue responded after numerous 911 calls were received by Whitman police dispatch just after 1:30 p.m. reporting the crash at Broad and Marble streets. When they arrived at the scene, fire crews found the three occupants of the Jeep lying in the street, according to a press release by Whitman Fire Chief Timothy Grenno. “All three had been ejected from the motor vehicle during the crash and were not wearing seat belts,” said Grenno who was in command at the scene. The driver was conscious in the roadway, suffering from multiple traumas and was MedFlighted following EMS assessment at the scene, Grenno said. Whitman police, along with a Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction team, were on scene investigating the cause of the crash until 4 p.m., when debris from the mangled wreckage was removed from the roadway. Due to the impact of the crash, a fire hydrant was knocked over and into the street. Several teens walked up to the scene of the collision embracing one another and crying. It was unknown what their relationship was to the victims. A second ambulance from Whitman also responded and assessed the other two passengers who appeared uninjured and refused medical treatment, said Grenno. |
