The Whitman-Hanson wrestling team was not happy with ending their league season with a blowout loss to the Pembroke Titans in their own gym on Wednesday. The Panthers had one more chance to go out on a high note at home when Whitman-Hanson hosted the South Sectional team championship at the high school on Saturday, and they made the most of it.

Panthers sweep tri-meet behind younger wrestlers

The three-team wrestling meet at Whitman-Hanson Saturday morning seemed to get more attention for the team that wasn’t there than the teams that were. The meet was originally supposed to be a quad meet, and was the first meet that Bridgewater-Raynham was forced to forfeit after suspending their program amidst accusations of hazing.

The first week of 2012 was a good one for the Whitman-Hanson boys track team. The Panthers got their fourth win of the season in impressive fashion with a 50-point win over the Silver Lake Lakers Wednesday and followed up with several personal bests by the team’s underclassmen at the Red Auerbach freshmen/sophomore Invitational on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
