Thanks to those who helped with Skatepark Jam
By Letters

The Friends of the Pembroke Skatepark (FoPS) would like to sincerely thank all who helped out with our second annual Skatepark Jam last week. We truly could not have had this extremely successful event without individuals and groups like you.

Thank you to Susan Roche of the Pembroke Recreation Department, The Alumni Sports Cafe, Cumberland Farms, Shaws, Stop and Shop, Hannaford Supermarkets, Tiny and Sons, Thomas Construction and Jake Licoski for all the donated goods, services and time.

We had some amazing volunteers, including Dee DeYoung, Jackie Halpin-Curran, Pamela McIsaac, Rosemary Rams, Gina Rosas, and Kim and Colin Samuelson.  They brought so much great energy to our special day and we truly appreciate it.

We would also like to thank the more than 90 participants who arrived to show their support for our cause. We had kids of all ages showcasing their skills on skateboards and BMX bikes throughout the event. We also had several exciting competitions, as well, and many beginner-level riders were able to see how far their hard work and practice can take them if they keep it up. Once we have our skate park built, these kids will be able to develop their skills in a safe environment.

In all, we raised $1,500 toward our goal last Saturday. We also raised important and positive awareness about our project at a community level.

Again, we thank you all for your kindness and continued support.

Jennifer O’Brien and Friends of the Pembroke Skatepark
