Hazel M. Chaney 92 a lifelong resident of Whitman died Friday, Jan. 13 after a period of failing health.
Born in Halifax and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Grace (Nash) Chaney and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1936. Before her retirement Hazel had worked for more than 62 years as a secretary at the DB Gurney Company of Whitman, and had been a longtime member of Professional Secretaries International. She had been a longtime and active member of the Baptist Church of Whitman. She leaves her niece and nephew David Inglis and his wife Karen of Whitman, and Marianne Rudis and her husband Steven of Virginia and her loving great nieces and nephews, Cheryl Mahoney and her husband Mark of Whitman, Joel Inglis and his wife Amanda of Whitman and Daniel Rudis of Virginia. She also leaves her brother-in-law George Inglis as well as a great great niece Ashley Foley and two great great nephews Brandon and Dustin Inglis all of Whitman. She was the sister of the late Emma Chaney and Mildred Inglis. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday Jan. 18 in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Route 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p..m., Tuesday Jan. 17. |
