Lawrence T. ”Larry” Wright, 78, of Whitman, died Friday, Jan. 6 in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Geraldine (Robbins) Wright.
He was born in Lynn, brought up in Rockland, son of the late Lawrence T. and Josephine (Mahoney) Wright. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean War from 1953-1955. He has been a resident of Whitman since 1973. He worked for more than 30 years for the Albany International Company as a fabric researcher. Larry enjoyed riding and rebuilding motorcycles, bowling, crocheting and loved wearing different styles of hats. In addition to his wife Geraldine, his was the loving father of Susan Lundgren and her husband David of Hanson, Karen Shaughnessy and her husband John of East Bridgewater, Laurie Gomes and her husband Michael of Halifax, Lawrence T. Wright, III and his fiancé Theoni Deis of Middleboro, Jennifer Disharoon and her husband Dennis of East Bridgewater; also grandfather of 16 including the late Kevin Gomes and great grandfather of Emily. He was also the brother of Richard Wright and his wife Mona of Rockland, Linda Rule and her husband Curt of Rockland and the late William Wright and the late Edna Swimner. His services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc. (Route 58 at the rotary) Whitman. His interment will follow in the Massachusetts VA National Cemetery in Bourne, at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
