Albert L. Sebastyn 87, formerly a longtime resident of Abington, died in his Taunton home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Nov. 24. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Liszewski) Sebastyn. Born in Salem he was the son of the late Michael and Agnes (Koslowski) Sebastyn and a graduate of Boston English High School. Albert was a proud veteran of World War II having served as a first sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, and was a participant in the Battle of the Bulge. Before his retirement he had worked for over 35 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a “Special Delivery Messenger,” and later as a Sexton at the Old South Union Church in South Weymouth, and had been a resident of Abington for 45 years before his move to Taunton 5 years ago. He truly enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle and loved baseball and playing handball. He was also an avid and talented golfer and a longtime member of Strawberry Valley Golf Course. In addition to his wife Frances he leaves his children Mark Sebastyn and his wife Marie of Dunstable, Joseph Sebastyn and his wife Anmarie of Whitman, Lisa Adams and her husband Robert of Taunton, and Robert Sebastyn and his wife Laura of East Bridgewater, and his sister Sophie Pyszka of Stow. He also leaves his daughter in-law Darlene Sebastyn Haley of Hanson and his 13 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Albie Sebastyn. His services will be held at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday Nov. 29 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Route 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Donations in his name may be made to Affinity Hospice of Life 14 Crosby Drive, Bedford, MA 01730. |
