Jane N. (Tamkun) Shepherd 86, a longtime resident of Abington died Thursday, Oct. 6, surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with cancer.  She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Shepherd, Sr.

Born and raised in Abington she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie (Zaluska) Tamkun and a graduate of Abington High School.

Before returning to Abington, Jane had been a longtime resident of Whitman, where for more than 35 years she and her husband Ray had owned an operated RJ Shepherd Company, selling golf supplies to many area golf courses.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time at her home on the Cape, but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves her  children Robert Shepherd of Abington, Raymond Shepherd, Jr. and his wife Arline of Florida, Richard Shepherd and his wife Janis of Abington and Mary Anne Shepherd of Stoughton, her sister Helen Cote of Whitman.  She ialso leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.  Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.  Visiting hours will be held from 3-7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10.
