Karen A. (Scott) Shionis 53 a resident of East Bridgewater for many years, died Friday, Aug. 26. She was the longtime companion of 27 years to Kenneth Skillings of Abington.
Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of Wayne and Margaret (Stocks) Scott of Whitman and a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School. Karen had worked many years as a painter for R.R. Scheibe Company of Brockton and previously for the E. Norris Brown Company of East Bridgewater. Karen enjoyed both sewing and ceramics, and the company of her much-loved cats “Baby” and “Sylvester”. In addition to her companion Ken and her parents Wayne and Margaret she leaves her children Lee Shionis and his significant other Adrianna Wright of East Bridgewater, Jared Skillings of Brockton, Jennifer Skillings of Abington and Eileen LeFort and her husband William of Florida, her brothers David Scott and Richard Scott both of Whitman, and Keith Scott and his wife Jenica of Rhode Island, her sisters Janice Poirier of Brockton and Cynthia Scott and her fiancée Michael Allen of East Bridgewater. She also leaves her former husband John Shionis Jr. as well as her six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Wayne, George and Donna Scott. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1 the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31.
