Theo Edna Tyni 93, of Kingston died Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Wingate Nursing Home in Pembroke.
Theo was a graduate of Holyoke High School class of 1935. She married Toiva Tyni in 1938 and resided in Abington, for over 50 years. During her years in Abington she was a member of the Abington Child Study Group, head cook at Camp Clark in Plymouth with husband Toiva who was director. Theo was director of the school lunch program for Rockland and Whitman-Hanson High Schools. Theo also taught a French cooking class for adult education in Brockton. Theo was an avid golfer and former member of Brockton Country Club, Halifax Country Club, and Strawberry Valley Country Club. Theo had a passion for entertaining and cooking and she loved to travel. She was predeceased by her husband Toiva Tyni and her three siblings Chester and Donald Willett and her sister Mona Riffenburg (Willett). She leaves her sons Donald E. Tyni and his wife Kathleen, and Ronald E. Tyni and his wife Terez. She was the grandmother of Sharon Frost, Jennifer Sheehy, Heather Driscoll, Rhonda Botchan, and Trent and Ryan Tyni. She was the great grandmother of Melissa Frost, David Hedrick, Tyler Kearney, Shauna and Hannah Edwards, Cameron and Jordan Byers, and Lauren and Ronnie Botchan. She was the great-great grandmother of Avery Harvey. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Theo’s long time caregiver and great family friend Jaqui Feid and also the staff at Wingate Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life to be held in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12, with burial to follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 p.m. |
