Lorraine M. Faxon, 85

Lorraine M. (Piantoni) Faxon 85, of Whitman died Tuesday, Aug. 9, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Leslie C. Faxon, daughter of the late Luigi Piantoni and Marie (Noris) Borlenghi.

Born and raised in Milton and was a graduate of Milton High School. She married in 1947 and lived in Abington for four years before moving to Whitman. Mrs. Faxon was employed by Picker X-ray Co. in Boston and later was employed at the former Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Whitman. She was also a private nurse’s aide for several Whitman Families.

She was a communicant at Holy Ghost Church in Whitman and was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Mrs. Faxon worked in the St. Francis Thrift Shop for many years until the shop closed. She was an active member at the Whitman Senior Center and a former member of the Whitman Mother’s Club. She also enjoyed going on bus tours around the country with her husband. They enjoyed dancing as members of the 72 Club of Abington. Mrs. Faxon also enjoyed the Patriots and knitting, often donating items she made to Catholic Charities and Pine Street Inn

She leaves her children, Michael L. Faxon and his wife Dianne of Abington, Cynthia A. Shepherd, Donna M. Ketchen and her husband Richard, Jeffrey L. Faxon, Stephen R. Faxon, and Philip J. Faxon and his wife Kathy, all of Whitman; her sister Carla Meehan of Northborough, and her aunt Ann Austin of Quincy.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Eleanor Mulroy of Wollaston. She was also the sister of the late Robert Piantoni

Her funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug.13 at from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Whitman St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 44 Blake St.,Whitman or to the MSPCA, 1300 West Elm St. Ext, Brockton, MA 02301.
