Bruce D. Weir, 68, of Brockton formerly of Whitman died Thursday, Aug. 4 in the Champion Rehabilitation Health Center in Brockton after a period of failing health.
Bruce was born in Brockton son of the late James M. and Helen (Kelly) Weir. He grew up in Whitman, and attended Whitman Schools He served his country in the United States Air force during the Vietnam War from 1960-1964. Bruce worked for many years as a manager of a group of high volume gas stations/car washes. He also was the owner of a Mug-N-Muffin in Taunton. He leaves his daughters Dawna Mullen of New Hampshire, Bridget Weir of Brockton, his brothers, James Weir and his wife Janet of Onset , Brian Weir of Whitman; also several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Johansen and Sandra Lambert. His services will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7 in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman .Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9 in the Massachsetts VA National Cemetery in Bourne. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 4-7 p.m., Sunday Aug. 7.Donations can be made in his name to the American Parkinson Disease, 72 E.
