A Whitman nurse was arraigned in Brockton District Court Thursday for allegedly stealing her patients’ prescriptions.
On Aug. 14, 2008, Duval’s Pharmacy reported Michelle Young, a nurse, was stealing her patients’ medications, according to a police report.  After making a delivery to a patient’s home the pharmacy received a phone call that said the wrong medication was delivered and that it hadn’t been taken in over a year.  Records showed that the prescription had been filled on a regular basis for the past year, and that the patient’s nurse had been picking them up, the report stated.  Police were provided with receipts and signatures.   Detective Drass called Young to come into the station on Aug. 15, 2008. After Drass explained to her why she was called in, she stated that she knew all about the missing drugs, and that she had taken them for personal use, according the report.  Young told the officer that she was in the process of getting help for her addiction.  She also told police the patient was not affected by her taking his medication.  Young, 38, of 46 Lazel Street, was charged with 18 counts of larceny over $250. She pled not guilty.  Young is set to be back in court for a pretrial hearing on July 24.   |
